Putin, Tokayev Hold Informal Talks Before Kremlin Summit

(MENAFN) The presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan held an informal discussion on Tuesday, a day prior to their scheduled official summit.

During their gathering at the Kremlin, Russian leader Vladimir Putin greeted Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and conveyed optimism regarding the successful completion of their ongoing joint initiatives for the year.

"Today, we'll take advantage of an informal atmosphere to discuss matters of mutual importance," Putin stated.

"Tomorrow, along with our colleagues, we'll review the full scope of our bilateral relationships and explore opportunities for the future."

Tokayev responded by describing the bond between Russia and Kazakhstan as one marked by "strategic partnership and allied relations."

He emphasized that there were practically no spheres in which the two nations failed to cooperate effectively.

On Wednesday, the two heads of state are expected to sign bilateral agreements, participate via videoconference in the Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum, and join a formal dinner hosted by Putin.
